Exposing Tradespeople to BIM and VDC roles and Technology

This training stream is for trades professionals with construction experience interested in gaining BIM/VDC experience and will remain in an operations/site role.

Participants will attend a 2-day in-person training class.

There are no program fees when applying or participating in any sections of this program.

There are no application/program fees for eligible applicants

Employers may enroll multiple participants in this program stream.

Participants will attend one of the following 2-day classes for in-person training (date subject to change, location TBD):

Calgary
October 7-8
October 21-22
November 4-5

Edmonton
October 9-10
October 23-25
November 6-7

Eligibility

Participant Eligibility Requirements

People who want to participate in this digital learning program must:

  • Be registered by their current employer in the Digital Tradesperson program.
  • Must complete a 2-day in-person training course (Edmonton and Calgary).
  • Have a current role, or recent background, in skilled trades.
  • Have their place of work primarily in Alberta.
Employer Requirements

Employers who want to have their employees make use of this digital learning service, must:

  • Be a member of a local Alberta Construction Association affiliate.
  • Operate their business in Alberta.

Exposing Tradespeople to BIM and VDC

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding the digitization of construction roles.
  • Understanding the benefits of the model.
  • Proficient model review.
  • Types of contracts. BIM Scope–owner requirements, contractor requirements, trade requirements, and site requirements.
